Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7

About this car

No one will deny it, the Porsche 911 2,7RS is thé iconic Porsche from the early ‘70s…the beast! After winning the world championship for manufacturers for 3 years in a row, Porsche designed the 2.7 RS as a homologation model. A total of 1.580 examples were built while originally only 500 would have been made if it wasn’t for the sales success. Porsche launched their icon on the 1972 Paris Motor Show and the rest is history.

Racing blood

Carrera stands for race in Spanish and RS is short for RennSport, racing in German. This basically is a street legal race car that has been derived from the racing version.

Limited production

The optional M471 equipment package led to Porsche building 200 lightweight “Sport” versions of the car. These 1580 cars were built in several series: the first series ends at about serial number #0527 and the 2nd series ends at about serial number #1067. This is important because after #1067 Porsche phased out thin-gauge steel for the bodies, thin glass, aluminium front cross members and aluminium frames for the ducktails, changed the trailing arms and added undercoating. This has led the 1st and 2nd series cars to be more sought after.

The history

We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning and matching numbers 1973 Porsche 2,7 Carrera RS (M472) Touring with chassis number 911 360 0642 (early second series). New delivered in the color 1111 (Light Ivory) in Italy (Verona) the car is in outstanding cosmetic and mechanical condition. Being an early chassis number it has the thin gauge steel thereby shaving 38 kg of the car’s weight. The car is ideally suited for the road and / or the occasional tarmac rally.
