1961 Mercedes-Benz SL 190

About this car

Two-door luxury roadster also called “the baby 300 SL”, as the two cars look almost identical, but of course, they are entirely different.

In 1955, while their super exclusive 300 SL was on sale, Mercedes Benz needed a more affordable alternative to attract more customers. So was it, the 190 SL was born and just like the 300 SL, the 190 SL was Max Hoffman’s idea. The concept was to offer a no-compromise little sports car that could do a bit of everything.

This 4-cylinder convertible is the perfect rally “cruiser”, usable and compact but it can also be used as a daily car thanks to its generous trunk, comfort and maneuverability. The 190 SL brilliantly manages to be a little bit of everything, that’s why people keep loving this model.

The 190 SL was a hugh success, nearly 26.000 cars were sold between 1955 and 1963.

The sample we offer for sale is a jewel running like a charm with a precise 4-speed manual gearbox. New delivered in the USA but back to the roots (Germany) in the ’90s were it was submitted to a thorough restoration process till the beginning of the 21st century. The quality of the restoration was that high that even today the car is still in pristine condition. A very rich history file comes with the car making from this sample a great buy for classic car lovers.

If you are looking for a cruiser with great looks, this car is for you!
